We are looking to get our Green Flag renewed. This time the theme is Biodiversity and Trish Kennedy from Fingal County Council visited us to talk to our Green Team. The children answered all the questions Trish had. After that they brought her for a walk to show her all the things we have done to improve biodiversity in our school. Finally all classes displayed some of their work in the foyer and prepared some special treats for our assembly. Have a look and listen to our poems and songs.
David composed another brilliant song for us. Absolutely amazing! biodiversity-song-david
Well done to our Community Credit Union quiz team.
Helen and Zach were the first to tell me that they saw some daffodils. Well spotted!
Well done to Freya who responded by e-mail telling me that she discovered her first daffodil in the yard. You shall be rewarded with some fresh CETNS eggs!
Also, Martyna, Chloe, and Helen spotted some yellow and some purple crocuses under the budleia in the yard.
We have a lot of flower detectives in CETNS!
I case you didn’t know: We have a Geocache called “No Homework”. It was hidden by 3rd class last year. You can follow it on the Geocache page. Here are just some messages left by “Geocachers” from all around the world. Some seem to know us!
I parked in a cul de sac across the road from the cache. When the coast was clear on the road, I stepped out and retrieved the cache from there. I brought it back to the car so I could take my time going through it. Grand sized geocache. I left 2xTravelbugs (Guiness Forever & jenbut’s HOMEWARD BOUND TB) and took a few pence in Sterling. I’ll be needing that on a stopover in England this Sunday so that was a nice find 🙂 Looked to wave at anyone looking out the window but the teacher must have had everyone’s attention first thing in the morning 😉
Great to visit the environs of CETNS today . Big hi to Aedín, Andreas, Liz and Siobhán! I hope 4th Class are keeping a good eye on the cache they placed last year when they were in Rang a trí.
I hope many of you are looking for caches when you’re out and about yourselves. I wish I had a black or camouflaged bag with me in which to hide your cache – maybe I’ll come back another time to help conceal it a bit. TFTC
Found on our way to a picnic in Phoenix Park. Not sure if the name of the cache refers to the fact that the children get no homework on the days the cache is found? If that’s the case I am sorry to have found this on a Saturday. Would have liked to wave to you all. Out: TB. In: golf ball. TFTC
Some children asked me recently where our Geocoin “Celtic Peacock” (released by my 3rd class last year) is hiding at the moment. The coin has travelled over 7000km so far.

After leaving Ireland the coin spent some time in different parts of Canada. At the moment “Celtic Peacock” can be found in Georgia, United States of America.
If you want to track the coin, you can find a link on the Geocoin page.
Roisín saw the first snowdrop outside Yvonne’s classroom.
Now there are some more in the “CETNS” tyres.
That’s also where Lola spotted the first Iris.
Adam was first to comment on the rhubarb leaves peeking out of the tyres near the
chicken coop.
So, what flower is next? Make sure you submit a comment via the blog.
You could also look out for other signs of spring. This year children all over Ireland are looking and recording sightings of frogspawn, primrose, swallow, hawthorn, horse chestnut and ash. Get your teacher to sign up to
