Signs of Spring -What’s next?

Roisín saw the first snowdrop outside Yvonne’s classroom.

Now there are some more in the “CETNS” tyres.

That’s also where Lola spotted the first Iris.

Adam was first to comment on the rhubarb leaves peeking out of the tyres near the

chicken coop.

So, what flower is next? Make sure you submit a comment via the blog.

You could also look out for other signs of spring. This year children all over Ireland are looking and recording sightings of frogspawn, primrose, swallow, hawthorn, horse chestnut and ash. Get your teacher to sign up to

Community Credit Union Schools Quiz 2013 – and the winner is… CETNS

On Monday, 4th of February, our school sent two teams to the Credit Union Quiz.

There were two competitions, competition A (third and fourth class) and competition B (fifth and sixth class). On team B, there were Omar, Billy, Megan (all from Romey’s 6th class) and Seamus (From Siobhán’s 5th class). On team A there were Alannah and Ella (Jen’s 4th class), Garbhan (Eadaoin’s 3rd class) and Tom (Conor’s 3rd class).

The fifth and sixth class had to do a ‘trial quiz’ in Liz’s room. It was taken from one of her many quiz books and was more difficult than the one she had given us last year.

The night of the quiz was very exciting. The quiz took place in the main hall of Naomh Perigrine’s GAA Club. Each team was allocated a table. There were 12 rounds of 6 questions in the B competition and 10 rounds of 6 questions in the A competition.

Team B came 1st and brought home a plaque each, a glass trophy for the school and a silver trophy to display in the school trophy cabinet for one year. Congratulations to both teams; everyone did very well, but there are still more rounds to come for team B and high hopes for next years quiz.

Signs of Spring

Well done to Jennifer’s 1st class. They spotted the first snowdrop of the year in a tyre outside Yvonne’s classroom.

Lola in JP’s junior infant class spotted more than one Iris with its beautiful petals outside her class and she is going to show them to everybody in her class.
